Greek
Ancient Greece refers to Greek history from 750 BC to 146 BC which provided the foundatgion of Western civilzation. Greek culture had a powerful influence on the Roman Empire in language, politics, science and arts. A fierce Greek heavy infantryman was known as a Hoplite, was the central element in Ancient Greek warfare. The Hoplite derices from hoplon meaning an item of armour or equipment, thus hoplite refers to "armoured man". The most well known hoplites were the Spartans, whom trained from childhoold in combat and warfare. Each hoplite provided their own equipment which was a Corinthian helmet, circular shield, spear, sword and muscle armour. The muscle armour was made of bronze and was worn with bronze greaves. Medieval Collectibles carries all your Ancient Greek needs. We have many greek helmets like the steel Corinthian helm, Royal Corinthian helm and the officers plumed brass Corinthian helm. We have steel and leather muscle armour, greaves and bracers. Our Greek swords and Hoplite swords are fully functional and authentic to the period. Greek Helmets Greek Helmets The Greek Corinthian helmet originated in Ancient Greece. The name came from the area of Corinth and the helmet was bronze. Later in the century the helm covered the entire head and neck of Greek soldiers. The Greek helm had slits for the eyes and mouth making it very hard for soldiers to see and breath in the helmet. The Greek helmet was similiar to those seen on Romans and Conquistadors. The Greek helm has a large curved projection to protect the nape of the neck. Medieval Collectibles carries both brass and steel versions of the Greek Corinthian helm as well as the Royal Corinthian helmet. The Royal Corinthian has a full natural horse hair plume worn by Greek officers.

Greek Armour Greek Armour Greeks soliders wore light armour during Ancient Greece, making them fast and fierce warriors during battles. The basic components of Greek armour were the front breastplate, backplate, bracers and greaves. Most of the Greek armour was made of bronze or of brass. The greeks wore muscle armour to which gave them the perception to their enemies that they were muscluar and fit. Spartans, the most well known Greek Soldiers were the most feared because they were well versed in warfare and combat. Spartans today are very well known thanks to the Frank Millers movie 300. Medieval Collectibles carries Greek armour that is fully functional for Ancient Greek reenactments or dressing up as your favorite Spartan character Leonidas. Our Greek armor include both brass and steel versions of muscle cuirasses, bracers and greaves.

Greek Clothing Greek Clothing Greek Soldiers didn’t wear much clothing either. The basic parts of Greek attire is the Greek tunic, Greek belt, greek capes and Greek sandals. The Greek tunic was light weight and worn under Greek armour or down the market streets in the Athens. Greek belts were used to tie the tunics closer to the body when armour was not worn and to hang the Greek Hoplite swords from. Finally Greek sandals protect the feet of soldiers and the Greek capes shielded them from the harse sun in Greece. Medieval Collectibles has authentic Greek clothing for the Ancient Greece re-enactor. Our Greek clothing includes tunics, sandals and capes. Pair our Greek Tunic with a studded leather belt and some Greek Sandals and you’ll be good to go.

Greek Swords Greek Swords The Celt-Iberians of Roman times were justly famed for their weapons, such as the Falcata. The Greek Falcata was one of the most devastating swords ever made in Greek history. The inward curving blade delivers a tremendous blow and could split both shield and helmet. Considered to be of Greek, or possibly Etruscan origin, this sword spread into Southern Russia and also Spain. It was in Spanish hands that it was most feared by the Romans.
